Skills for Crisis

Nurturing Communities Beyond Tipping Points

The Idea

The ‘Skills for Crisis’ project acknowledges that ecological tipping points, social collapse and multiple crises have been reached. They will be and already are our reality. The world as we know it is coming to an end. Embracing this thought, faces us as individuals, but also our communities with questions, feelings and processes, forcing us to leave our known ground of “solving” and “saving”.

Together we want to explore what civil society organisations, our communities and social movements need in order to react and act in Solidarity to crises. We want to learn from the past, support healing in the present and shape the way we enter the future.

For one year, we will collect and discuss existing knowledge and practices about crises and develop workshops based on five streams of thoughts.

Stream of Thoughts

There is a whole universe of thoughts and topics coming up, when we think about facing multiple crises and collapse. We start our journey with those five streams. And see where they take us…

For each stream there will be an online- and an offline-Workshop. You will find all information and how to apply below.

Who is involved

The project is inspired by many activist groups, individual work, generations of thoughts and events. The main partners to organize this series of Workshops, Lectures and Media Output are three collectives. “We” for now is a white group of educators, publicists and activists from Germany, Austria, Poland and Belarus.

The network connected by work, thoughts and resources used is much bigger though… We think of everyone absent for multiple reasons and generations of activists woven into the stream of this project.

Resources

We have been inspired by wonderful people – everyone individually during activism and pure living and all together within the processes of this project. We try to acknowledge the roots, work done and love put to the concepts and ideas we work with and try to learn from. A lot of ideas and materials we are sharing and working with will be from marginalized, BIPoC thinkers and activists. We will acknowledge, where we know them. And include discussions, work and learnings on colonialism, racism and appropriation into our journey.

In this section you find step by step outputs and documentation of the project and material we collected during the journey.

If you would like to become part of the project, here are some ideas on how to.

We deeply believe we need to strengthen realworld relations. But Social Media is still a chance to stay connected and spread some ideas.

We try to update this website as often as possible, but if you like to get in contact or follow our activities, you can find us at Instagram. We share a channel with @educatkollektiv
